Discovering meaningful ways to support a local community can play an integral role in laying the foundation for change. Volunteer initiatives create a framework for social philanthropy and encourage community members to take a progressive stance on relevant communal affairs. Being involved with charitable organizations teaches humility, and equips individuals with valuable life skills to be utilized in one’s personal and professional life. A prominent business owner, Richard Zahn and his wife Michele have deep ties to their community and extend a helping hand where possible, believing that fortunate individuals need to be proactive when it comes to giving back. Having been blessed with wonderful children, Richard understands the importance of maintaining a supportive community and contributes as best he can given his extensive resources and means to do so. In Richard Zahn’s own words:

Actively engaging in community events teaches considerable life skills including time management, respectability, patience, and discipline. Richard Zahn sat previously as a Co-Chair of the Orlando Urban League which assists minority groups in various areas of Florida, achieve social and economic equality. The program provides jobs and extensive training to thousands of unemployed or underemployed individuals in and around the city. Richard also lent his time to projects such as the demolition of the AMWAY Arena, where the concrete was used as a foundation for new residential and commercial housing. He aided in the Encore project associated with the Tampa housing Authority, where their team performed approximately 50+ HUD based projects per year.
